The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is reopening state campgrounds this Wednesday June 10th. There will be special safety conditions including automated touchless check-in, new educational signs on responsible recreation, and park offices will remain closed to the public. Scheduled or same-day campsite reservations will only be accepted by phone or online to eliminate face-to-face interaction with D.N.R. staff. Check-in is no longer necessary at the office or visitor station. Simply proceed to your assigned campsite and begin setup. Park staff will visit sites to monitor occupancy. Rock Island State Park, however, will remain closed through June 30th with the Washington Island Ferry Line still suspending all trips to and from Rock Island. Most restrooms at state properties are now open, but group campsites, shelters, and amphitheaters will be closed through June 30th. Equipment rentals remain unavailable at this time, and firewood is currently not available at state parks and should be purchased before campers arrive. Campsite reservations can be made online through the Wisconsin State Park System website, or by calling 1-888-947-2757. That website can be accessed through this link:
