State Parks Update and Rock Island Re-Open Date

The Wisconsin DNR has informed us that starting April 30th, there will be some changes to the state park system. Playgrounds will be open. Volunteer group sizes will be increased to 50 people. The capacity for open-air shelters, amphitheaters, and outdoor group campgrounds will be increased to 100 people. Non-department led special event capacity will increase from 50 to 100 people, and special event permit applicants may work with property staff to phase in larger events with capacities over 100. Also, the stand-alone concession facilities will be open for up to 50% capacity including staff. They have also announced that Rock Island will remain closed to all visitors through Thursday May 27th to allow for repairs to the dock, including dredging of the dock area. Rock Island State Park will then be open starting Friday May 28th. If you had camping reservations for May 26th or 27th, you will be given the opportunity to shorten your stay and arrive on Friday May 28th when the island reopens.
