Whitefish Dunes State Park Celebrates 50 Years

In recognition of its 50th birthday, the Friends of Whitefish Dunes State Park are planning a special anniversary event for Friday, from 11AM to 1:30PM. In 1967, the citizens of Door County passed a referendum that brought about the establishment of the park in the Town of Sevastopol, one of five state parks in Door County. Since then, the Dunes has been a cool water retreat for residents and visitors during the summer months, a serene setting to ski through during the winter, & a wonderful place for nature lovers to be year-round. A series of hikes have also been planned for the popular park during its 50th year. At the anniversary event, live music is planned and art work will be exhibited.
