The National Weather Service Green Bay office announced Wednesday that the storm which slammed northern Door County on August 9th did, in fact, include a small tornado. It was reported that Door County Emergency Management supported a survey of the damaged area near the Peninsula State Park golf course, and the National Weather Service reports that damage was consistent with an EF0 strength tornado. The brief tornado struck at approximately 3:55PM with a wind speed reaching 73MPH, and the most significant damage reported from that site was an uprooted tree. The tornado path was approximately 32 yards wide and a quarter mile long, as it reached nearby Eagle Harbor where numerous witnesses reported seeing a brief waterspout.
