Sturgeon Bay Schools Hire Middle School Principal & Food Service Director

The selection of a new principal for the TJ Walker Middle School in Sturgeon Bay has been approved by the board of education. The school board Wednesday evening accepted the recommendation that Mark Smullin, currently Principal at Aldrich Intermediate School in Beloit, be hired to replace Randy Watermolen, who is retiring at the end of the current school year after 15 years as Middle School Principal. A total of 38 applicants expressed interest in the middle school principal’s position at Sturgeon Bay.

Jenny Spude will be moving from the Door County Government Center in Sturgeon Bay to the kitchen at Sturgeon Bay High School as a result of action taken by the board of education Wednesday evening. Spude was hired as the district’s Food Service Director, replacing Sandy Andre who is retiring. District Administrator Dan Tjurnagle said Spude, who is the Nutrition Coordinator at the Door County UW/Extension office, comes to the position with an extensive background in the field…

Eight people applied for the job and seven were initially interviewed.

The Sturgeon Bay Board of Education stood by as four recently elected board-members were sworn-in Wednesday evening. The oath of office was administered to Beth Chisholm, Chad Hougaard, Jacob Schulz and Scott Alger. Their new terms of office begin on Monday. Outgoing school board members Pam Seiler and Roger Wood were recognized for their years of service to the district, Seiler with 13 years and Wood with 12.
