A greenhouse project, intended to connect students to the environment, has been launched by the Sturgeon Bay School District. Waseda Farms and the Lutsey family are partnering on the project. Students will plant, tend and grow produce as part of a project that will teach technology, expose participants to the agricultural sciences and make healthy food available to students in Sturgeon Bay. As things stand now, the greenhouse has been purchased, the construction is soon to begin, and 75% of the project is funded. Once completed, the greenhouse will allow students to grow and sample food, design planting plans, tend seedlings, integrate real life technology, and transfer learning into their own backyards. The Sturgeon Bay school greenhouse is expected to begin operating next school year.
