Sturgeon Bay Rotary Club Awards $28,300 in Scholarships

The Rotary Club of Sturgeon Bay has awarded $28,300 in scholarships to graduates of Door County high schools this year. Seventeen graduating seniors were awarded the recognition for their volunteer, personal and academic achievements.

Nine students were awarded “Service Above Self Academic Scholarship,” Sarah Kifer and Mackenzie Straub of Gibraltar, Jillian Jorns of Sevastopol, Austin Vandertie and Jennifer Vandertie of Southern Door, and, Allison Alberts, Nathan Leroy, Sara Pabich and Connor Sannito of Sturgeon Bay. Nathan Ewaskowitz of Gibraltar and Jared Baudhuin of Southern Door were named alternates.

Two students were awarded a “Rising to the Challenge Academic Scholarship,” Collin Duffy of Gibraltar and Bennett Rabach of Sevastpol.

Seven students were awarded the “Robert Muckian Service Above Self Vocational Scholarship” for those pursuing a vocational degree. They are Mercedes Zayac of Gibraltar, Luke Bieri of Sevastopol, Phoebe Kennedy, Nathan Lenius and Kimberly Letter of Southern Door, Jacob Lefeber of Sturgeon Bay, and Bradley Jordan of Washington Island.

In addition to the scholarships, 29 seniors were honored with a “Rotary Vocational Award,” recognizing exceptional aptitude and work ethic, and 17 others were honored with a “Rotary Service Above Self award.”
