Sturgeon Bay Common Council Meeting Recap

Tuesday evening there was another regular meeting of the Sturgeon Bay Common Council. Mayor David Ward commented how this meeting was considerably shorter than their usual meetings, but now they have numerous issues in line for the next couple council meetings. Aside from the routine proceedings, the council voted unanimously to approve the “memo of understanding” between the city and Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding. This understanding was the result of a lot of committee work, and it is part of their agreement in association with Bay Ship’s forth-coming expansion. It calls for the beautification of 3rd Avenue between Jefferson Street and Iowa Street. They also discussed the public hearing for the Plan Commission scheduled for Wednesday January 20th. This hearing will address the proposal for the conversion of the west side school building into multiple-family dwellings with detached garages. The next Common Council meeting will be on Tuesday January 19th.
