We have the results from Door County ballots in Tuesday’s spring elections. History was made as Door County elected it’s first female judge in the race for judge of Door County Circuit Court Branch 1. Jennifer Moeller won that race with 6,309 votes while Brett Reetz ended up with 3,684 votes. For County Supervisor seats, in District 3 incumbent Roy Englebert had more votes. In District 7, incumbent Claire Morkin won, and in District 9 with no incumbent running, Ryan Shaw had more votes than Jon Kruse.

In the races for Town Supervisor seats, incumbent Susan Tishler and challenger Paul Kordon each won a seat in Baileys Harbor. Challenger Ted Anderson beat incumbent Keven Fleischman in Gardner. Incumbent Jeanne Vogel and challenger Trent Olsen won the 2 seats in Sevastopol. On Washington Island, incumbent Lawrence Kahlscheuer and challenger Peter Aownie won those 2 board seats.

In the Village of Sister Bay, incumbent Denise Bhirdo won a seat, along with Louise Howson and Kurt Harff, for 3 Trustee seats on the Village Board.

In Sturgeon Bay District 2, Mathew Huston had more votes than incumbent Dennis Statz for that council seat, and in District 6 incumbent Seth Wiederanders won over challenger Tom Benzschawel.

In the Towns of Union, Gardner, and Brussels, all 3 municipal referendums voted “no” to using public funds for broadband infrastructure projects.

In the race for the Sturgeon Bay School Board, those 4 seats were won by Angela Kruse, Cathy Meyer, Wayne Spritka, and Damon Howard. For the 2 open seats on the Southern Door School Board, Adam Schopf and Janel Veeser had the most votes.

For the 2 state referendum questions, Door County voters said “no” to Question 1 regarding the prohibition of using private funds in conducting elections, but they voted “yes” to requiring only election officials designated by law may perform the duties of primaries, elections, and referendums. Statewide, however, both of these constitutional amendments were passed with more Wisconsinites voting in favor of both amendments.
