Sturgeon Bay Common Council Addresses Housing Shortage

At the Sturgeon Bay Common Council meeting Tuesday evening, they addressed the housing shortage in the area by accepting the development agreement parameters for the 26-unit multiple-family dwelling propopsed for the Sunset School Redevelopment. Then there’s the proposal for the Northpointe Development Corporation with a 53-unit dwelling on the West Waterfront which Mayor Dave Ward details here……

Council members also stressed the importance of the stipulation forbidding these developments from becoming short-term rentals. Then, the Council approved a 2nd reading of the Sturgeon Bay Police Department command structure to eliminate one position while creating another…..

The council then met in closed session to discuss the purchase of a land parcel on S. Hudson avenue, after which they approved this purchase in the interests of creating more housing….

The meeting lasted 2 hours and 45 minutes, but as they mayor says, they took plenty of action and achieved more progress addressing the city’s housing shortage problem.
