Student’s Threats Lead to Lockdown at Gibraltar Schools

A northern Door County teenager was jailed Thursday after being arrested on citations related to making terroristic threats. According to a news release from the Door County Sheriff’s Office, the department was notified at 7:46AM about a potential threat regarding Gibraltar School. the threat was reportedly posted on Snapchat the previous evening. As deputies were traveling to Fish Creek, they were informed that the 17 year old male was at home with his mother. Shortly before 8AM, the officers arrived at the residence and took the student into custody. Earlier that morning, Gibraltar School officials diverted school buses that had not yet arrived and locked down the school for those who had already been dropped off. The school reopened when the student was taken into custody. Sheriff’s deputies and Gibraltar officers remained at the school conducting follow up information gathering Thursday morning.
