Sternard Announces Candidacy for Door County Sheriff

Another member of the Door County Sheriff’s Department has announced her candidacy for Sheriff now that Sheriff Steve Delarwelle has indicated that he will not seek another term. Lieutenant Tammy Sternard, who administers the Door County Jail, is joining Chief Deputy Pat McCarty as announced candidates. Sternard says her decision to run is centered on her belief in a strong collaborative approach when dealing with issues facing the community. She says she understands the importance of being surrounded by good people and, by working together, great things can be accomplished. A member of the Door County Sheriff’s Department for 25 years, including more than a decade of administrative experience, Sternard has been able to learn from and collaborate with different sheriffs on a wide variety of issues facing the department and the community. She points to her years of leadership experience, education, training, community involvement and history of outstanding service as factors that helped prepare her for taking on what she calls “a very important role.”
