The Southern Door School District significantly increased the speed of its internet capability by way way of a cooperative agreement with Door County. The project, at least three years in the making, was finalized with a board of education commitment last year and has resulted in the district now being connected to the county government’s dark fiber broadband. This alone has made Southern Door’s internet connection ten times faster than what it was previously. The connection also provides for significant expansion, something required by the state in 2020. In addition, the new arrangement means the Southern Door School District can reduce some of its costs through shared resources and consolidating telecommunication service purchasing with governmental agencies and schools.
