Southern Door Honors Friends of Education

The Southern Door School District has awarded two 2018 Friends of Education Awards to district residents who have supported the school’s staff, students and programs. Bob and Sue Massart were recognized for their volunteer work with the auditorium and haunted mansion. Over the the past 20 years, they have donated over 5,600 hours to the haunted mansion and 3,500 hours to the auditorium, working behind the scenes.
Rick Barbiaux of Cabinet Creations, Incorporated received the district’s Corporate Friends of Education award in honor of his support and service over the past seven years as an advisory committee member for the career and technical education program. In that time, Barbiaux has raised over $27,000 in equipment for the technical education department. He also helped organize and establish the first annual Brett Buhr woodworking contest. The awards were handed out at the back-to-school convocation program for Southern Door staff on Monday.
