Southern Door High School has been recognized for its commitment to developing 21st century personal finance skills with the awarding of a “Next Gen Personal Finance Gold Standard Distinction.” Over the summer, the non-profit organization analyzed 11,000 high school course websites. Southern Door High School was one of only 600 high schools nationwide to deliver the gold standard of a semester long personal finance course as part of graduation requirements. The course is taught by Maree Baumann. Superintendent Patti Vickman says the required course at Southern Door provides all students with a necessary foundation in a life skill area as they transition to the adult world of school and work.
