Teams from around the world competed in Kansas City, Missouri over the past few days at the Destination Imagination Global Finals, and Sevastopol has two teams coming home as Global Champions,.
Competing in the “Roll With It” engineering challenge, The Ultimates, consisting of Evan Isaksen, Liam Schultz, Zoey Copiskey, Ben Martin, Finn Mathews, & Marcus Mann, and coached by Nick Schultz & Jenny Hobart took first, and earned a renaissance award, recognizing extraordinary effort & preparation, as well as skill in engineering, design, or performance.
In the Scientific challenge called “Up Close,” the Micro Magix, made up of Shane Leist, Ryder Ortmayer, Will Ortmayer, Maggie Thomas, Silas Martin, Jackson Toivonen, and Mayra Cordua Stenzel, and coached by Annie Rabach, Mindi Vanderhoof, & Shelley Stenzel also took first. The Micro Magix also won the instant challenge award.
The teams will be greeted with a parade upon their return tonight around 7:30PM. It will start in the in the Target parking lot before going down Maple and Madison, over the Michigan St. Bridge to 3rd, then left on 3rd until they make it back to Sevastopol School.
A team from Sturgeon Bay placed 5th in the “Up Close” Challenge. And teams from Algoma finished in 17th & 19th in the “Tricky Tales” challenge.
