An early retirement agreement between the Sevastopol School District and Superintendent Linda Underwood was ratified by the board of education following a closed session Thursday evening at the school in Institute. Underwood, who has been superintendent for four years, will stay on until an interim administrator can be brought in to run the district’s day to day affairs. After the decision was made Thursday, an email was sent to staff informing them of the current set of circumstances. The action caps a tumultuous four month period that has included the decision not to extend the contract of Elementary Principal and Special Education Director Mary Donaldson, her resignation, a failed attempt to force a recall of two board members, a second recall attempt, the hiring of a new principal, and now, the early exit of Superintendent Underwood. The next step in the process will be the hiring of an interim superintendent.
