Sevastopol School Board Recall Election to be Held in August

A recall for two seats on the Sevastopol Board of Education will move forward. School board clerk Lisa Bieri has certified that a sufficient number of signatures have been submitted to force a special election in August for the seats currently occupied by the board’s president and vice-president, Sue Todey and Bill Behme. We’re told the opposition candidates will be Tim Bley and Keith Volkman. By law, the board-members have ten days to appeal the decision. A group of district residents angered by the Sevastopol School Board’s decision not to extend the contract of former Elementary Principal and Special Education Director Mary Donaldson vowed to seek a recall vote. Its first attempt to obtain signatures to force a recall for board-members Jay Zahn and Jane Luebker proved unsuccessful due to a shortage of signatures. The recall election for Todey and Behme is expected to be scheduled on August 23rd.
