The Sevastopol Board of Education accepted the resignation of Elementary School Principal and Director of Special Education Mary Donaldson during a meeting at the school in Institute Thursday evening. The board action was announced shortly before midnight following a marathon executive session that began shortly after the meeting was called to order at 6:30PM. We’re told much of the time spent behind closed doors was spent to bring new board-members up to speed with the reasoning behind the actions taken leading up to the resignation. During its January 7th meeting, the board voted not to extend Donaldson’s contract. Then, in February, she asked for and was granted administrative leave. On Thursday evening, a group of parents and others demonstrated on Donaldson’s behalf. The Sevastopol group has vowed to force an election to recall two of the members of the school board.
