Sen. Tammy Baldwin Visits Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding

Senator Tammy Baldwin was in northeast Wisconsin Tuesday meeting with local Coast Guard members, conducting a listening session with maritime industry representatives, and she also took a tour of Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding. During her tour she was able to view recent infrastructure improvements and spoke with the men and women of the shipyard as well. Senator Baldwin commented, “Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding is an industry leader in the construction, repair, and conversion of USCG and commercial vessels, and we are lucky to have them here in Sturgeon Bay. I am glad to partner with them on the maritime issues facing the Great Lakes and will continue to advocate for strong ‘Buy American’ policies to support the domestic shipbuilding industrial base.” CEO of Fincantieri Marine Group Dario Deste mentioned how having Senator Baldwin on site was a great reminder to the shipyard teammates that the work they do each day is critical to the US maritime industry as well as to commerce beyond the Great Lakes.
