Primary in February for SB City Council

A primary election in February will be needed to set the ballot for the spring election for positions on the Sturgeon Bay City Council. Three candidates have filed nomination papers for two of the three seats up for election on April 3rd. In district two, where Ron Vandertie is the incumbent, former aldermen Bob Starr and John Lodl will be joined on the primary ballot by David Hayes. Starr also served a term as mayor. Vandertie decided not to seek re-election. In district six, incumbent Stew Fett faces the challenge of Seth Wiederanders and Lauri Fish. In district four, incumbent Rick Wiesner will square off with Kelly Avenson. Avenson was unsuccessful in her last attempt to win a seat on the city council. At the recommendation of City Clerk/Treasurer Stephanie Reinhardt, the city council Tuesday agreed to the primary for the two seats on February 20th.
