A ribbon cutting ceremony is set for Monday, May 7th, in Sister Bay to mark the official grand opening of the Northeast Wisconsin Learning and Innovation Center. The event is scheduled to get underway at 11AM and include remarks by NWTC President Doctor Jeffrey Rafn, John Lowry, Chairman of the Liberty Grove Town Board, and Jan Scoville, Dean of NWTC Regional Learning. The learning and innovation center features a food processing kitchen, classrooms, meeting rooms, and multi-purpose space. Beginning in June, northern Door community members will be able to take credit courses toward a degree. Classes include economics, english composition, and medical terminology. NWTC purchased the building from Nicolet National Bank in 2016.
A one million dollar renovation project at the Sturgeon Bay campus of Northeast Wisconsin Technical College is expected to be wrapped up next month. According to the contractor, Miron Construction, the work off north 14th Avenue includes two phases of a 12,000 square foot building upgrade. The scope of work includes the demolition and rebuilding of concrete and stud walls, along with electrical work, plumbing and fire protection.
