As Northeast Wisconsin Technical College works to implement a proposal to open a facility in Sister Bay, the technical school with satellite campuses in Sturgeon Bay and Marinette wants to include the thoughts of the local residents who might take advantage of its resources as part of the process. A couple of public listening sessions are planned for the village using the former Baylake Bank building off south Bayshore Drive. It’s appropriate that the former bank facility houses the discussions in that it is being considered as the site for the innovation and learning center. NWTC is reportedly in the process of purchasing the facility from its current owner, Nicolet Bank. The two sessions, on September 15th and October 4th, will be held at 7PM and will provide an opportunity for the free flow of ideas about the possible offerings and resources provided at the center. The impetus for the creation of a northern door NWTC came out of discussions involving local government officials, business leaders and the Door County Economic Development Corporation.
