Barring a write-in candidacy, Door County will have a new district attorney in 2017. She is 34-year old attorney Colleen Nordin of Sturgeon Bay. Nordin, daughter of the late Michael Nordin, former Sturgeon Bay Police Chief, picked up 2138 votes or 59 percent of the ballots cast. Incumbent D-A Ray Pelrine, who has held the position for a dozen years, finished with 1484 votes. By the way, there were 47 write-in votes on the Democratic side of the ballot. During the run up to the election, Pelrine ran on his years of experience. Nordin said it was time for a change.
