High School Home Construction Project Teaching Construction Skills

Slowly, but surely, a four bedroom home is going up in Sturgeon Bay, the product of 11 high school students and their advisors. The construction of the home, at 344 North 19th Avenue, is symbolic of the resurrection of the high school home construction project funded by the Door County Economic Development Corporation. Eleven Door County high school students are in the process of erecting the single-family home under the guidance of Sturgeon Bay High School Technology Teacher, Seth Wilson. Wilson had high praise for the student workers…

Door County Business and Education Partnership Manager Korey Mallien says bringing the program back after a short hiatus is part of the effort to realize several important goals…

Wilson says, whatever the outcome, the students will benefit from the hands-on building project…

Representatives from Portside Builders and Van’s Lumber and Custom Builders are also providing their expertise at the construction site.
