Gibraltar Teen Waives Preliminary Hearing in School Threat Case

A northern Door County teenager waived his right to a preliminary hearing in a Door County Circuit Court appearance Monday afternoon on a charge of making a terrorist threat. Seventeen year old Juan Jauregui of Fish Creek appeared before Judge David Weber who told him to return to court on Friday, January 19th. Jauregui is accused of posting a threatening statement on Snapchat during the evening of November 15th. The next day, upon learning about the posting, Gibraltar School District officials locked down the school in Fish Creek and stopped buses on the way from arriving. Jauregui was taken into custody by Door County deputies shortly before 8AM. He remains free on $10,000 bond with conditions. Conviction on the felony charge of making a terrorist threat is punishable by a fine of $10,000 or three and a half years in prison or both. Jauregui is being represented by Attorney Brett Reetz.
