Two Gibraltar High School students led their counterparts in the state of Wisconsin in the recent DECA online virtual business retailing simulation. Juniors Ryan Kropuenske and Andras Szalaka took first in the state and earned tenth place in the central region, which includes 13 states of competitors. Internationally, they placed in the top 20% of all competitors. The retailing track of the DECA virtual business challenge encourages members of the group to test their skills at managing a retail sporting goods store. Competitors merchandise their products, determine purchasing levels, price their products to assure a profitable margin, determine staffing needs, invest in advertising and more. Mary Jo Witteborg is their advisor.
