A Door County school is a nominee for a national Blue Ribbon School award. In January, the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction nominated the Gibraltar Elementary School for the national distinction, one of eight Wisconsin schools selected to compete for the award. Schools are nominated for exhibiting a high level of educational excellence and exemplary achievement. The Gibraltar School District will learn in September if they have attained the Blue Ribbon School distinction. In 2015, the Sevastopol School District received the award for its secondary school.
