Door County veterans are invited to take part in the annual Veterans Day observance one day early, on Thursday, November 10th, at the Door Community Auditorium in Fish Creek. The ceremony is being held on the 10th due to parent/teacher conferences at Gibraltar School on the 11th. The speakers will be John Scocos, Secretary of the State Department of Veterans Affairs and retired Colonel Tim Lawrie, a Vietnam veteran. All Vietnam veterans will be honored in recognition of the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam war. The public is encouraged to attend. Veterans unable to drive can catch a ride on the Door County Trolley which will leave the market square parking lot near the veterans memorial at city hall in Sturgeon Bay at 8:30AM on October 10th. On Veterans Day, ceremonies will be held on Washington Island and at the senior center in Sturgeon Bay.
