The 2016 dairy breakfast, sponsored by the Sevastopol FFA Alumni, will be held Sunday at Door Vue Beef and Custom Cropping, owned by Jason and Nicole Staats and family. The farm was acquired in 1975 by Ken and Margie Staats whose dairy operation featured about 30 cows. In 1994, Ken and Margie doubled their herd. After graduating high school in 1995 and putting in a hitch with the US Army, Jason Staats returned home to help his parents on the farm. In January of 2000, he purchased the herd and machinery from his parents and leased the land and buildings. Nearly ten years later, Jason and Nicole sold the milk cows and switched to a beef and cash crop farm which included custom work. Currently they farm about 650 acres of corn, wheat and soybeans and do about 1,500 acres of custom work with the help of Ken and brother, Andy. Their farm on Jarman Road, in the Town of Sevastopol, will provide the backdrop for the 35th annual dairy breakfast Sunday, from 6-11:30AM, rain or shine.
