The district two seat on the Sturgeon Bay City Council will be contested in the April election. With the deadline for submitting nomination papers about two weeks away, two candidates have returned papers, incumbent Ron Vandertie and challenger Kelly Avenson. Paul Anschutz still has papers out at the present time. In district four, incumbent Rick Wiesner has filed his nomination papers. In district six, three would-be candidates are still circulating papers, incumbent Stewart Fett and challengers Nissa Norton and Tom Benzshawel, a former council-member. On the mayoral front, both Mayor Thad Birmingham and challenger Laurel Brooks have papers out. The deadline to submit nomination papers is January 5th at 5PM.
