2nd DC Sheriff K9 Unit Now on Patrol

It was last August when the Door County Board of Supervisors authorized the purchase and training of up to two K-9 units for the county sheriff’s department. Earlier this year, Deputy Matt Tassoul and new K-9 “Leo” returned from training and began actively working out on the road. Now, just this last week, the 2nd new K-9, “TJ” And his handler Deputy Tina Spaulding completed their training. They are now back in the community and out on patrol as well. Chief Deputy Pat McCarty shares with us a different between these 2 canines……….

“TJ’s” handler Deputy Spaulding has been with the sheriff’s office for just over 10 years. She began in the jail department where she rose to jail sergeant, and then she decided to move to patrol before now becoming the sheriff’s 2nd K-9 handler currently in the department. The purchase and training of both dogs has already been paid for, but Chief Deputy McCarty says there are still costs to maintaining the two K-9 units……….
