YMCA Capital Campaign Receives Large Anonymous Gift

Phase two of the Door County YMCA’s capital campaign for its Northern Door Program Center got a big boost with the announcement of an anonymous $200,000 challenge gift, pushing the campaign past the one million dollar mark. Each dollar committed to the construction of a 3,500 square foot addition at the facility in Fish Creek will be matched dollar for dollar up to $200,000. Door County YMCA CEO, Tom Berntsen, says the major new commitment means the organization will be able to secure the necessary donations and pledges to begin construction before winter. The overall goal of the campaign is $1.5 million. The addition will be constructed on the south side of the current building, facing Gibraltar Road, and will house a lifestyle center. Other elements of phase two planning at the Northern Door Program Center include replacement of the gym roof, new air handler units, updates to the two main shower rooms, and, renovation of all bathrooms.
