YMCA Awarded Grant for Youth in Government Program

The Door County YMCA has been awarded a sustainability grant to provide financial assistance to Door County students who would like to participate in the Youth in Government program. The grant comes from the Children and Youth Fund, administered by the Door County Community Foundation. The YMCA’s Youth in Government program is part of a state and nationwide initiative that engages hundreds of Wisconsin students each year. The program is available to all students in grades 7 through 12 and aims to help prepare young people for leadership through training in the theory and practice of developing public policy. Teens are elected to office by their fellow delegates and take part in meetings, debates and voting on mock bills that have been written and presented at yearly conference.
