WPS Crews Kept Busy by Thursday Evening Storms

Wisconsin Public Service crews worked into the morning hours Friday to repair power outages caused by strong storms that passed through their coverage area Thursday evening. Close to 6,400 WPS customers, including some in the utility’s Sturgeon Bay service area, reported disruptions in their electrical service. Matt Cullen, WPS Communications Specialist, says crews encountered broken power poles and downed wires as they worked to restore power. Cullen says customers need to be very careful if they find wires on the ground…

Cullen says the time needed to replace broken power poles varies, but every effort is made to get customers back online as quickly as possible…

Sturgeon Bay Utilities says just three outages were reported after the storm, including work at Potawatomi State Park.
