Door County’s unique geography makes its underground water system vulnerable. A new fund, “Healthy Water Door County”, has awarded a grant to the Environmental Research and Innovation Center at the University of Wisconsin/Oshkosh to conduct a county-wide well-monitoring program during this weekend and next. The grant should provide free test kits to virtually any Door County property owner or resident who would like one. Coggin Heeringa of Crossroads at Big Creek says the hope is that the program will be the start of a long-term initiative to promote high quality water while providing a convenient way for Door County residents to monitor well water…

The program will be repeated on Friday and Saturday, June 12th and 13th, at three locations in Door County.
