Warden Says Snowmobilers Should Watch Their Speed

Two snowmobile riders were injured after being tossed off their sleds on a trail in the Town of Sevastopol at the end of January. In both cases, high speed was a factor. Door County Conservation Warden Chris Kratcha says snowmobiles are difficult to handle under normal speeds, but, if you’re traveling at 70 miles per hour and more, you’re putting yourself in jeopardy…


Warden Kratcha says a review of accidents each year will show that speed is a factor in the majority of snowmobile crashes…


Kratcha says when you add alcohol to the mix, you’re asking for trouble and crash statistics bear that out.
