The Sister Bay Village Board has approved a resolution supporting an offer to purchase two parcels owned by Brandon Small and Sister Bay Properties, LLC for $650,000. The parcels are located off Highway 42, behind the Shopko store. The property has been operated as a dimensional stone quarry and is a non-conforming use. According to a news release from the village, Sister Bay has not made “industrial uses,” such as a quarry a part of its zoning code, or part of its comprehensive plan. The property will be restored according to the quarry restoration plan on file with the Door County Soil and Water Conservation Department and the quarry will be eliminated as a result of the purchase. Site restoration work is anticipated to begin in the summer and is contingent on a closing of the sale. Village officials have discussed future uses for the site and will continue those discussions this year as a plan is developed for its eventual sale and redevelopment.
