The United Way of Door County has recently kicked off their 2020 annual fundraiser campaign virtually through their Facebook page with statements by Executive Director Amy Kohnle and Board President Peter Kerwin. From now until the end of the year, united way will work to raise the funds needed to support their community partners in their work during 2021. With all of Door County’s challenges during the pandemic, the need for existing, expanded, and new programs in 2021 will be greater than ever. COVID-19 will continue to have wide-spread negative impacts throughout our community. Our human service agencies are being stretched beyond capacity, with increases in mental health issues, drug and alcohol abuse, and domestic violence. Affordable childcare becomes more rare, food insecurity is on the rise, and our tourism-heavy economy is at risk. The United Way of Door County is asking those who have the means in the community to give, advocate, and volunteer. Kohnle announced the campaign goal to be $650,000. Your donation will go directly to assisting our Door community. If interested in donating you can go online to “UnitedWayDC.com” or you can call 920-746-9645.
