The Door County Sheriff’s Department has released details of a rollover accident Monday morning that closed down a portion of Highway 57 for three hours. The accident report indicates that a dump truck, driven by a 19-year old Sturgeon Bay man was northbound on 57, near Logerquist Road and negotiating a curve, when the passenger side tires on his fully-loaded dump truck entered the gravel shoulder. As he attempted to steer back onto the roadway, his vehicle began to spin counter-clockwise and then tipped over onto the passenger side, spilling its load of sand and blocking both lanes of traffic. The driver escaped injury. A detour was set up and the Door County Highway Department was called in to remove the sand. The driver was cited for driving too fast for conditions.
