Survey Map Approved for Proposed Hotel Site

A certified survey map, creating a lot for the proposed westside waterfront hotel, was approved by the Sturgeon Bay City Council Tuesday. The map, drafted by Baudhuin, Incorporated, is based upon a drawing approved by the city’s waterfront redevelopment authority showing the anticipated location of the hotel. The lot must be consistent with the planned unit development ordinance formally created by recent council action. The certified survey map will not be recorded and the hotel lot sold to the developer until construction financing and approvals are secured. If, for some reason, the hotel is never built, the map will not be needed. However, the action helps the council determine lot lines so that the developer can submit a final site layout and complete construction drawings and other materials needed for final approval. The rest of the property formerly owned by the Door County Cooperative and encompassing land between the Maple/Oregon Street Bridge corridor and the hotel lot, will be contained in a second parcel. That parcel could be further divided in the future, depending on the needs of another developer.
