Sturgeon Bay Has New City Administrator

Sturgeon Bay has a new City Administrator. He is Josh Van Lieshout, currently Village Administrator in Egg Harbor. The City Council Thursday announced that Van Lieshout would replace Steve McNeil who will be retiring on August 1st. A total of 19 candidates applied for the job and four individuals were chosen for interviews. The 40-year old Van Lieshout has held his current position since July of 2007. He received his bachelor’s degree in environmental policy and planning from the University of Wisconsin/Green Bay. He and his wife, Teri and daughters Arry and June, live in Sturgeon Bay. The City of Sturgeon Bay has an elected mayor and an administrator who coordinates the city’s day-to-day operation. The city administrator form of government has been in place locally for about 30 years beginning with Edgar Allingham and including Dennis Jordan, John “Jay” Kraus, Kevin O’Donnell, Steve McNeil, and now, Josh Van Lieshout.
