Sturgeon Bay Considering Premier Economic Development District

The creation of what is called a Premier Economic Development District (PEDD) will be beneficial to some businesses on the west side of Sturgeon Bay. That’s the rationale behind a request that such a district be formed in an area of the city encompassing approximately 40 acres. City Community Development Director Marty Olejniczak explains the benefit of creating a Premier Economic Development District…

As envisioned, the PEDD would run from a section of the west side business district to the Marina View Apartments. Olejniczak says the new construction in the proposed district comes with a value of 20 million dollars, one of the criteria for its formation..

If approved, the two liquor licenses that come with the Premier Economic Development District will not be cheap. The state requires that the initial file for issuance of the license must be at least $30,000.
