Sturgeon Bay Alderman Ed Ireland Resigns Due to Health Reasons

Sturgeon Bay 3rd District Alderman Ed Ireland has indicated his intention to resign due to health reasons. Ireland, who said he enjoyed working with staff and aldermen, requested that a replacement be found as soon as possible. Edward Ireland was first elected in 2013 and re-elected last year, serving most recently on the community protection and services and finance/purchasing and building committees. Mayor Thad Birmingham praised Ireland for faithfully serving the city and the residents of the 3rd district. Birmingham said “Ed brought to the council table a neighborly, well thought and pragmatic approach to governance.” Sturgeon Bay City Administrator Josh Van Lieshout says the remainder of Ireland’s term, which expires in April of 2017, will be filled as soon as possible.
