A special session for the Sturgeon Bay City Council has been set for Monday afternoon at 4PM. The meeting in the council chambers at city hall involves consideration of acting on a 2017 city budget and setting up a public hearing on the proposal. The recommendation on the budget and tax levy is the outgrowth of a couple of recent budgetary committee of the whole meetings. Council-members will hear a brief overview on the proposed working budget of $10,478,505 and the tentative tax levy of $6,512,798. That compares to a levy of $6,258,970 for 2016 and a budget of $10,380,000. The council will also be asked to set up a public budget hearing on November 8th at 4PM, along with time set aside for a presentation on the city’s tax incremental finance districts and non-governmental budgets. In addition, the Sturgeon Bay City Council plans to go into executive session to consider amendments to the development contract with Sawyer Hotel Development, LLC. The meeting in the council chambers begins at 4PM Monday.
