Skatepark Initiative Fundraising for Park Amenities

The Sturgeon Bay Skatepark Initiative has received a $10,000 matching grant to provide amenities for the popular park on the city’s west side. An anonymous donor set up the matching challenge. The skatepark initiative planned its fundraising effort in two phases. The first phase raised $420,000 to build and open the park near west side field. Now, about $20,000 is needed to provide some amenities that will make the park safer, more enjoyable, and, more aesthetically pleasing for the athletes and the community. Those amenities include a shade structure for the viewing platform, a kiosk to post events, rules and safety information, and, signage for the park. If funds allow, future improvements will include lighting and additional tree plantings. The local group hopes to raise the $10,000 needed to match the challenge grant in time for the park’s grand opening on Saturday, June 13th. The Sturgeon Bay Skatepark Initiative is a fund of the Door County Community Foundation. Tax-deductible contributions may be sent to, DCCF, P.O. Box 802, Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235.
