Sheriff’s Office Warns of New Scam

The Door County Sheriff’s Office has released another warning on the latest scam hitting some area residents. They received two reports Tuesday from local residents who received emails with a low quality photo of their home and a message. The photo was easily acquired online from Google Maps or some real estate site, and then the sender claims to have some additional embarrassing photos of the resident. Door County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Brad Shortreed tells us more…

The Sheriff’s Office warning says that scammers often rely on scare tactics and use urgent language to pressure you into quick payment or action. If you receive one of these emails you can simply ignore and delete it. If you did offer any information or payment to a scam email such as this, you can reach out to local law enforcement with any concerns, or to report the incident.
