Several Road Projects Begin Soon in Northern Door County

The Wisconsin DOT has given us a quick overview of some upcoming roadwork on state highways in northern Door County. As for the resurfacing project on Highway 42, next month will begin the work on the 12 mile stretch from just north of the Highway 42/57 split in Sevastopol north to Rainbow Ridge Road in the Town of Egg Harbor, and that work is scheduled to last through June. It will include the milling and resurfacing of the existing asphalt lanes while also adding right turn lanes at the intersection with Monument Point Road. At the beginning of this project there will be a detour involving Highway 57 and County Roads V, A, and EE, and later the road will re-open with single-lane closures and flagging operations.
Then during May and June, the 7-mile stretch from Rainbow Ridge Road to Bluff Lane in Gibraltar will also see milling and resurfacing with single-lane closures and flagging operations, but there will be closures in the Village of Egg Harbor with that village roadwork on the highway. This project also uses the same detour with Highway 57 and County Roads V, A, and EE.
Then starting in September, Highway 57 will have roadwork from the highway split in Sevastopol north to County Road E in Baileys Harbor. This work will replace the existing deteriorated drainage structures at Lily Bay and Geisel Creek, Logan Creek, and Hibbard Creek. There will be closures and detours at each of these work locations.
