Search Continues for Missing Neenah Man

The Door County Sheriff’s Department is continuing its efforts to find a Neenah man missing since Sunday evening. At 9:16PM, the Sheriff’s Department received the report of an overdue traveler who had been visiting his property in the Town of Jacksonport and did not return home. The last contact with the 57-year old man was at around 5PM when he called his wife and told her he was taking photographs at Cave Point County Park. Deputies sent to the park found the man’s vehicle in the parking lot at 9:43PM. They conducted a foot search of the park and property they believed belonged to the missing man near a cliff along the shore. Conditions at the time included seven to eight foot waves on Lake Michigan and an ice-covered and dangerous cliff along the shore. The Sturgeon Bay Fire Department and the US Coast Guard were brought into the search. The fire department conducted a more extensive ground search, the Coast Guard dispatched a helicopter and boat, and launched a water search. The Coast Guard suspended its search operation at 1:30AM Monday. While the search continues, hazardous conditions on Lake Michigan are making things difficult. Foul play is not suspected. The name of the missing Neenah man is not being released at this time.
