SBPD Releases Video of High Speed Chase

The Sturgeon Bay Police Department has released video of a high speed chase on the west side of the city involving a 38-year old city resident and squad cars. According to police sources, the incident began at 2:30 Saturday morning when an officer pulled over a car, but the driver left the scene. The vehicle struck a parked vehicle and damaged a wheel, but the driver kept going, even though the wheel was spraying sparks along the way. During the chase, a squad car spun out on an ice patch, but the officer driving it was able to avoid an accident. The fleeing vehicle eventually stopped in the 200 block of Spruce Street, on the city’s west side, and the driver attempted to enter a home. He was tased and brought down on the front steps of the house, but, in the ensuing struggle, the man sustained head and neck injuries. He was transported by paramedics to a Green Bay hospital, treated and released. Among the citations the Sturgeon Bay man faces are drunken driving, hit and run, fleeing a police officer, and resisting arrest. You can view the police chase video below.
